UPDATE: 5/17/2009
I was working with Gabby today and I started out with her bowing and worked her
up to laying down :-)...I think this is a big accomplishment for both of us :-)
6/5/2009:
Today, my friends Tracy and Maygin and I all took turns riding Kodi around and little miss
Gabby didn't want to be left out...
She followed us around like she was being ponied.
She was a tired little girl, truth be told they were both tired horses when it was all said and
done... But all in all, it was a good day.
July 13, 2009:
I am very pleased with how far Gabby has come since we first got her. She is starting to look more like
a horse and less like a gangly little foal whose legs were almost too long for her body. She has already had a great start
in her training. I try to work with her as often as I can, and it has really paid off. She will load into a two horse straight
load by herself, and will wait to come out of the trailer until she is told to. She will sidepass, and give to pressure. She
will flex, and bend any way you ask her to. She picks up all four feet, and stands for grooming and bathing. She also knows
how to bow, and lie down. We have saddled her with a pony saddle, and she accepts that with ease. Due to her age we have not
had a rider on her back (other than my two year old nephew who we lead around on her) as we have decided to wait until she
turns three to start her undersaddle. I know she will take it all in stride, and will turn out to be a great horse.
