Getting Kodi was kind of a spur of the moment thing.
My mom and one of her friends went to the sail barn to visit and look at some tack. They decided to stay and watch some of the horses run through. My mother was just about to leave when they ran a skinny little horse into the ring. He didn't have a rider, so it wasn't really even known if he was even broke to ride, but mom said there was just something about his disposition that attracted her to him. So, on an impulse, she bought him. Once he was home, we got straight to work on getting some weight on him, and gaining his trust. Things were a little slow going at times, but with some added pounds, we started seeing what a personality this little horse had. After a while, we decided to see what all he knew. His first couple of rides were a little rusty, but after some time we found out what a great horse he truely is. He rides, and neck reins like a dream, and though he can be a bit stubborn at times, he is never been considered a horse I couldn't put anyone on. He has already taught many of my friends to ride and I look forward to spending many more years with this amazing little gelding.

UPDATE: June 27th, 2008

In the picture below Kodi is with our new orphan foal Gabby.
This was their first meeting and as you can see he wasn't too worried about her being there and was more concerned with eating...lol

UPDATE: 5/9/2009- A job well done

We had some calves get into our pasture so I saddled Kodi up and herded the calves back into their pasture where their mom's were anxiously awaiting them.

Update: June 17, 2009

Today I introduced Kodi to the rescue horse we are currently boarding. "Batman" is a APHA gelding who is close to (if not every bit of) 17 hands. Though Kodi is considerably shorter, he let Batman know that this was his place. After a couple of squeals, and stomps things settled down nicely. I have high hopes that the two will quickly become friends.

July 13, 2009:
I am sad to report that Batman is no longer with us. It is a bittersweet goodbye as I am sad to see him go, but it is good to know that he will not suffer any longer. In other news, I have some family down visiting, and I have enlisted Kodi in helping to give my 10 year old cousin Cade riding lessons. Kodi is such a good horse, and I know I can trust him to take care of Cade and help teach him what he needs to know about riding horses. Kodi is a great horse for confidence building as he is safe, but he also knows when he can test his rider, and help them learn to become more confident in their commands. I will try to update soon and get pictures of Cade and Kodi. What a pair they are.

Is there anything better than a day spent with God, Family,Friends and our Animals
